Stairwell

A boy a girl a beat...

'Stairwell' is a short film exploring the built environment and the stairwell as an unacknowledged meeting place. The soundtrack features Reuben Alfred-Lecky AKA 'The Maverick' in a fusion of beat boxing and tango. The project was choreographed by Kelly and Kieran Daley-Ward and features dancers from Ricochet Street Dance Company.

'Stairwell' was commissioned by Wandsworth Arts and selected for the British Urban Film Festival 2010 and the British Shorts Film Festival at Sputnik Kino, Berlin 2011.

Quartet

An urban choral piece

Four vocalists were filmed at different times taking the same walk around the vicinity of Kings X station. The four films were then matted together in post-production creating random moments of dissonance and harmony resulting in this urban choral piece. 'Quartet' features Kings X as an arbitrary meeting place where people walk side by side without acknowledging each other. The film is about giving this transient place a moment to itself.

'Quartet' was commissioned by Sound and Music, in association with no.w.here, for The Sound Source and screened at Kings Place in May 2009. Supported by Awards for All.
Red Carpet

Red Carpet

Camera, star and fan

At the 2008 BAFTAs we queued for 5 hours to get a place in the pens surrounding the red carpet. An experience shared with hundreds of photographers and autograph hunters. We filmed the rapture of fans and rigour of camera men to document the love affair between camera, star and fan.

CCTV Stories

The Stairs

Security cameras track a man as he climbs a long staircase. At the top people wait in anticipation - but what are their intentions?

London is the CCTV capital of the world. They say you are photographed 300 times on your journey to work. For the most part, CCTV cameras capture unspectacular comings and goings - nothing particularly heroic or criminal. CCTV Stories scrutinises these benign moments and finds poetry and pathos forming a portrait of a city and its people.
